Daughter #3: Xanthippe

Naming today's baby daughter Xanthippe, so there
even though you said no philosophers ever had wives after Socrates
because Xanthippe
because she was so awful
because "shrewish and scolding"
because.

Naming today's baby daughter Xanthippe, may she be lippy and trippy,
I'll love her anyway and what is the worst that can happen?
So maybe she won't marry a philosopher!
It could be waaaaay worse.

Today's baby daughter, Xanthippe: zippy and skippy,
she won't wet her pants (and so what if she does)
she'll live in a trance and I'll love her because
just because.

"Far more stories about her than facts" - what else new?
If we've got zero info about her we'll call her a shrew?!
She lived two thousand four hundred years ago, guys,
Bearing babies to someone who's famously wise - or not wise?

Turns out Socrates liked having her as an opposite number
He wanted a person and not just a log or cucumber
And I wanted you as a person as well, baby little
Not a plant or accessory but yourself, all bitchy and brittle

So today's baby daughter: Xanthippe you are
hippy and nippy and my little star.
